THE AMAZON EXPEDITION CRUISE

TOUR OVERVIEW

The entire Amazon trip exceeded my expectations in every way. The boat, crew, food, accommodations, excursions were all fantastic! The guides made everything interesting, but I loved the night excursions and stories about local legends best of all. It was an amazing trip.
Heather from North Carolina

One of the world's wonders, the Amazon has fascinated travelers and dreamers since its discovery in 1542 by Francisco de Orellana. The 3,900 miles long Amazon River and its tributaries is the last great wilderness of its kind. It contains over half the world's species of birds and thousands of species of mammals and plants. It is pupulated by the river people and tribes of Indians who crisscross this vast system of rivers, streams and canals in their wooden boats and canoes.

With the Amazon Expedition Cruise you will embark on the voyage of a lifetime, sailing the Earth's mightiest river, which calls on the most adventurous of world travelers. You'll be rewarded with an unforgettable journey into areas penetrated by only a privileged few. As the expedition ship docks along the river shore,experienced naturalists will take you into remote estuaries in the Amazon rainforest. You will explore the pristine wilderness areas teeming with wildlife and meet the indigenous peoples living in villages as they have for centuries. At the day's end, you will enjoy the comforts of your floating hotel, wholesome meals prepared with fresh ingredients and naturalists' talks on flora and fauna of the Amazon.

The tour will provide a complete overview of the habitats and wildlife along the Rio Negro and Rio Amazonas. We'll travel down the orchid-festooned rainforest, see hundreds of species, including the many rare birds, endangered pink Amazon dolphin, three toed sloth, caiman, howler and squirrel monkeys.

  • Spend 2 days in Manaus, the colorful capital of Amazonia; and the next 5 days onboard the Tucano expedition  ship, before returning to Manaus for your return flight;

  • While in Manaus, you will explore the city built in the middle of the rainforest, with its colonial architecture and wide sandy beaches lining the Amazon River;

  • During your Amazon expedition you will participate in daily explorative talks on the Amazon's flora and fauna;
  • You will explore the least settled areas of the Amazon, the true wilderness, rarely seen by other visitors;
  • This is an EXPEDITION cruise: active, meaningful and very authentic. It is a 100% low impact, green tour. We won't be insulated from the forest and our exploration will not injure or destroy plants or animals, but it will benefit the local population;
  • As part of the experience, you will visit the homes of river settlers who are always happy to have visitors. For many people these visits are among the most memorable experiences of the trip;

INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
