South Africa is one of those destinations that dreams are made of: surreal mountain landscapes and sublime seascapes, world-class wildlife safari, luxurious jungle lodges, cultural vivacity and history of the people, cosmopolitan cities, and isolated Zulu and Shangaan villages, excellent South African wines and cuisine. With immensely varied terrain and rich natural diversity, the country offers a wide range of experiences and is a delight for the senses. During our South African adventure, we'll spend 5 days in a luxury designer hotel on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town, exploring the vibrant city of Cape Town and the magnificent area that surrounds it. We will also explore the Cape of Good Hope, where the Atlantic and the Indian oceans meet, walk on Boulder Beach among the colonies of African penguins, take the cable car to Table Mountain and hike to beautiful vistas overlooking the city. We'll tour the South African Winelands with their renowned wineries, see the Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens to walk on carpets of exotic flowers, stroll in quaint fishing villages and towns with impressive Cape Dutch architecture.

The next part of the tour will take us to the magnificent Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, as well as the neighboring country of Botswana. The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) are located on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls which are about one mile wide and 420 feet high are a remarkable spectacle, as the tremendous amount of water falls into a very peculiar, narrow slot-like chasm, and you can view the falls face-on, which makes for a very unusual experience. David Livingstone, a Scottish explorer, saw the falls in 1855 and renamed them after Queen Victoria, though they were known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya. Livingstone was so moved by what he saw that he wrote: "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight". The Victoria Falls is the largest single sheet of water in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The great Zambezi River starts in northwest Zambia and meanders for 1,700 miles through several countries to empty into the Indian Ocean in Mozambique. This sheer volume of water that flows through this planetary vein and manifests its grandeur at Victoria Falls stirs an emotional response from all who visit. We'll not only admire the great spectacle of the Victoria Falls, but we are also likely to see hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, baboons, elephants, and birds of prey along the riverbank or on one of the many islands that dot this wide river.

From Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, we'll take a full day trip to the neighboring Botswana and its
Chobe National Park, where we'll be able to see the world's largest herds of the African elephant, as well as a myriad of other animals: zebras, hippos, impalas, buffalo and several predators, such as leopards and cheetahs. We'll enjoy both the open jeep safari and the very unique boat safaris on the Chobe River which almost guarantee phenomenal photo opportunities of elephants playing and drinking at the water's edge, crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks of the river, and hippo pods cooling in the water.

The most memorable part of the tour will probably be the 5 days spent at a safari at the luxurious Kapama Southern Camp Private Game Reserve, part of the Sabi Sands and the Kruger National Park ecosystem. Here, we'll experience the true magic of Africa: enjoy two daily game drives (safaris) to view the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino), bush walks and visiting local villages, and learning about the Tsongas people who once lived on this land alongside the animals.

Testimonials

As usual, Sights and Soul handled everything, took care of everyone, and provided diverse experiences. It was great. I have a couple more trips on my bucket list before I slow down a bit. I wouldn't travel with anyone other than S&S. - Karen from New Hampshire (South Africa 2 2023)

I found the South Africa 2 Tour to be fantastic. Visiting Africa has been on my bucket list since I was a child.  The tour was inclusive of several areas including Cape Town, Zimbabwe/Botswana and Kapama Game Preserve. Experiencing the warmth of the people in Africa and learning about the history and culture were high points. Cooking in a local home was a wonderful experience. Victoria Falls and the safari in Chobe National Park were stunning.  The Game Drives at Kapama were truly magical! We were able to see the big five and learn about the animals and the efforts to protect them. We were sooo close, even able to hear the breathing of the lions! The elephant herds were magnificent!  Meeting and traveling with a group of like minded women added to the experience, our group was kind and compassionate, enjoying each other's company and sharing travel and life experiences. I have several other trips I will take with Sights and Soul Travels! - Jeanine from Wyoming (South Africa 2 2023)

I was very impressed with my first Sights and Soul Tour to South Africa. The communication prior to the trip, tour guide, quality of the women, tour experiences, accommodations, and financial value were top notch! I would highly recommend to any woman wanting to travel with this company. Can't wait for my next trip with Sights and Soul! - Yvonne from Arizona

This particular tour is a unique, once in a lifetime, event.  It differs from many of the other tours that S&S offers with the focus on the safaris.  The itinerary was excellent, though not sure if needed three vineyards. The food generally was very good.  The hotels were exceptional. All the people who we met and interacted with were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. - Anne from New Jersey

The entire experience was spectacular but my favorite memories will be staying in Kapama Southern Camp and going on the game drives. We saw all of the "Big 5" and so much more. The drivers and trackers were spectacular as well as the rest of the staff at Kapama including the Spa. The last day, I did the optional visit to the Elephant Rescue and was able to feed and touch the beautiful animals. I really enjoyed the sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Victoria Falls was beyond words especially taking the optional helicopter ride over the Falls. Seeing the Penguins on Boulder Beach was amazing! Overall, the tour was the most exciting trip I have ever taken and the memories will last a lifetime. - Debbie from Tennessee

S&S is a wonderful women’s tour group that is exceptionally well planned. Kerry is a caring, friendly face to everyone. Exploring all the sights in a small, safe surrounding made for a fabulous trip. Do not hesitate if you are a solo traveler – you will be welcomed and never feel alone. This was my first trip with S&S and would highly recommend it. It was an outstanding experience for women who share the love of travel and adventures. - Joyce from Ohio

Excellent tour as usual. Sights and Soul is a class act. - Karen from New Hampshire

This was my 3rd trip with S+S. Each one exceeded my expectations. Seeing the animals close up and so many of them was breath-taking, but also the guides were able to provide a real feel for Arica. The tribal village was a high point. Kerry, our tour leader implies confidence. I always felt we would be on schedule and where we needed to be, yet she was flexible when needed. Thanks S+S for another memorable adventure. - Mary Jo from Virginia

This tour was much more than I could imagine it would be! The tours and meals exceeded my expectations. The accommodations were all wonderful. The Commodore was a great location, convenient to the waterfront. Camp Kapama was fabulous! The tour to a Namibian village was one of the many highlights of the trip. I really enjoyed the jeep and boat safaris – happy to have done both trips together. Kerry was great! She always asked how everything is and joined different people from the group for shopping, dinner, etc. and spent time with everyone. I can’t think of anything she could have done better. - Donna from Pennsylvania

This tour was a lifetime destination I have always desired and I am thrilled to have gone with S&S. You’re great! - Vicki from Colorado

I love traveling with S+S. I love that the group size is small enough not to feel lost in as a solo traveler, but large enough to find camaraderie. I appreciate S+S’s attention to detail. - Lynn from New York

This was my second tour with S+S. Everything from Kerry, our tour leader, guides and accommodations and food were perfect. The other ladies were friendly and welcoming. I will definitely travel with S&S again. - Karen from Oklahoma

It was such a wonderful and diverse tour in every way, showing the best that South Africa offers, and I felt very pampered. - Diana from Washington

I so enjoyed this tour. I came home with a sense of well-being and calmness. Was it observing nature at its finest moments? Perhaps! A trip of a lifetime! - Karla from Colorado

First of all, I have never seen such attention to detail from any tour company. I was equally impressed by the personal, prompt responses to any questions I had prior to departure. Second, the tour leader only added to the experience. Kerry was efficient, calm and caring. Having her with us, I knew that any glitches or mishaps would only be minor inconveniences.  Overall, the itinerary and the group itself was wonderful. - Laura from South Carolina

The tour was great! This is my third S&S tour. And after each one I’ve thought “well, there’s no way to top that trip” – but then the next trip blows me away even more than the last one! The safari in particular was amazing! The accommodations, staff, food – everything at Kapama was fabulous. It felt so luxurious, the people were so warm and genuine, but the wildlife were definitely the stars! I didn’t really imagine we would see so many animals and so close. It almost didn’t seem real. It was a dream come true. - Andrea from Ohio

This was my 5th trip with S+S. It was amazing! I especially enjoyed the game drives. It was incredible to see all of the animals – “the Big 5” – Too Cool! It was a trip of a lifetime. And Becky was always organized, calm and very friendly. She makes you feel welcome and safe in an unknown area of the world. The S+S tours are always well prepared, and I have enjoyed all 5 tours that I have taken. Thank you for making my travel dreams possible. - Julie from Arizona

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the 3 African countries . The safaris were my favorite. It was a spiritual trip for me to see the animals free in their natural habitats. I loved the hotels, food, shopping, excursions, etc. , and I thought Becky did a great job filling us in on everything from the safaris to where to eat, shop, safety tips, etc. - Kat from Virginia

Becky was a great tour director. The local guides were excellent. The accommodations (especially Kapama) were wonderful, as were all of the staff! I celebrated my 60th b'day while at Kapama and Becky made it very special + memorable, and I was absolutely surprised when the staff sang, danced and made me an awesome b'day cake! - Sylvia from Virginia

The S&S Africa trip was an adventure of a lifetime!  The word that came to mind daily was "awesome" and it really did not describe all the great things we did and saw up close!!!  Cape Town, Kapama Southern Camp and Victoria Falls...they were all wonderful. Deon, our Cape Town guide was the best ever.  Betheul, my Kapama Ranger, was great at telling stories and he taught us so much about the animals.  We saw them all!  It was an amazing experience. Victoria Falls and our sunset cruise down the Zambezi River was a nice end to an amazing adventure!  The hippo family was great to see.  I will be talking about this trip for years to come.  Great job Yolanta!  Sights and Soul continues to be my first choice when I'm looking for a great destination and well planned itinerary. - Suzanne from Virginia

I am back at home, jetlagged and trying to catch up, but with a jeep load of wonderful memories. Thank you to you and your wonderful travel company for the trip of a lifetime. I appreciated your organization and attention to detail, which kept things running very smoothly. - Marina from Newfoundland, Canada

What the Media Says About Us

Women-Only South African Safari Tours
One of the most striking trends in the travel industry in recent years has been a dramatic increase in the number of women-only tours. While some tours are run by large companies seeking to take advantage of this trend, the most popular are run by small companies run by and for women with years of experience in the field. And while many women-only tours focus on conventional sight-seeing, shopping and spas, more and more are adding an greater element of adventure in the jungles of the Amazon or the savannahs of South Africa. more
