Testimonials

It was a wonderful experience to be in Argentina and Brazil and the rainforest. I loved the restaurants where we dined and loved our small hotel and its location. Loved the gaucho experience and Iguazú Falls! Loved the samba show…fantastic! Great guides in Rio and Buenos Aires. Bird park was wonderful. Amazon was fabulous... rangers were excellent and very knowledgeable. Loved all of our experiences with them. Thank you so much.
- Kathleen from Washington

I had a great time. My top memories include: the gaucho horse ride, the speed boat in the Iguazu Falls, the Samba show in Rio, swimming with the pink dolphin and all of the canoe rides. Thanks again S & S Travels!
- Diane from Colorado

Accommodations in Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls and Manaus were amazing and the food was outstanding!! Our toud leader was the best as she navigated the tour snafus and unexpectedly rainy weather with her usual composure, competence and humor. Loved Veronica in Buenos Aires, Fabi in Rio, and Ugo/Marcos on the Amazon. The tango and samba shows were excellent as was the wine tasting. Loved the hikes/walks at Iguazu Falls and all the excursions we took while on the Amazon cruise. Loved Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, the steps, etc. etc.
- Holly from Arizona

Fabulous tour leader. Excellent itinerary. Recoletta hotel was in an excellent location, staff at the hotel excellent. Belmont hotel Iguazu falls was excellent. Staff great and food excellent. Nice amenities and great location and hotel grounds. Fabiana, our in country guide was excellent.
- Kirsten from Florida

I loved the itinerary, quality of accommodations, and the variety of urban/wild destinations. I loved the Amazon river cruise, especially having it at the beginning with no internet available meant that the women all got to know each other and bonded well.
– Deirdre from MD

You all do a fabulous job! Each trip is enhanced by the wonderful, intelligent women I meet each time I travel with you. I love learning something new and seeing something new each day. It was quite an adventure and I had wonderful experiences.
– Rhoda from Florida

I really enjoyed the Rio Negro cruise, but Iguazu Falls was truly spectacular. I also liked the day trip to Uruguay, the bird park, and optional helicopter ride over the falls. Our local guides were all very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
– Adrianne from Florida

Thanks for putting this tour together. I love the quality of the experience and the hotels.
– Debby from Illinois

Argentina was fantastic - such a vibrant and exciting country! The food, the sights and the people are outstanding. Kerry is a great tour leader as she has a great sense of humour and she is patient, enthusiastic, and concerned about everyone. Thanks for another wonderful travel experience.
- Pam from Alberta

The sights were all equally fabulous. What I enjoyed the most were all the other people and how we all hit it off so fast & easily, the dinners and accommodations were fantastic. The trip seemed to be for the correct length of time. I would have liked some more free time for shopping, although I really did like the flexibility shown by Yolanta.
-
Gayle from Hawaii

Kerry was a fantastic tour leader. She has a great problem solving ability (a record rainfall in Buenos Aires), great sense of humor and a positive attitude. I would love to travel with her again.
- Arnetta from Florida

Loved it! It was a trip of a lifetime, and I’m so glad I decided to book with Sights and Soul. The places we visited and the people we met along the way in Argentina couldn’t have been better, and I enjoyed it all. Kerry was ever helpful, and we had plenty of issues (rain and delays), and she handled them all with class and great skill.
- Julia from California

This was my first time touring with S + S, and I was very impressed! More than I expected and I really enjoyed the company of the group.
- Jane from Florida

I confess, I wasn’t really all that excited about birds, and animals on the Amazon, but this trip was so much fun. It was so much more. I am really glad I took this tour.  I love all my trips with Sights and Soul, but Brazil might have moved up to my favorite.
– Donna from Texas

The entire Amazon trip exceeded my expectations in every way. The boat, crew, food, accommodations, excursions were all fantastic! The guides made everything interesting, but I loved the night excursions and stories about local legends best of all. It was an amazing trip.
- Heather from North Carolina

It was a great trip, absolutely fabulous. Lots of wonderful memories. See you on another continent one day.
- Kate from Ontario

It was a wonderful experience. The Rivers, rainforest, cruise, food, excursions were fantastic and I will recommend the trip to my friends.  We did have a great group, and I appreciate everyone and admire their passion to travel.
- Janice from Hawaii

Thank you for a perfect tour! I wouldn't have changed a thing. Excellent company, crew, guides, food, excursions and sights!
- Bonnie from British Columbia

Thanks Yolanta for a wonderful experience. I haven't been able to get much done at work yet as I wax poetic and awestruck each time a co-worker asks me about my trip!
- Heather from Ontario

The trip was amazing.  Thank you for creating a great trip on a wonderful boat with such nice staff & informative guides.  This is definitely a trip to fondly remember... the birds, more birds, even more birds, actually see sloths moving, taxi ride on a motorcycle, rivers of 2 different colors, rubber dripping from a cut in a tree, the town & the village & the kids. Just so many wonderful moments.
- Joyce from Massachusetts

I have taken 3 trips with Sights and Soul and each one was unique, great fun and very well organized. I'm very picky and this company exceeds my expectations! I plan to travel on even more tours with Yolanta!
- Debra from California

The Wonders of Brazil tour brings together three remarkably different sides of Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian and Argentine sides of Iguazu Falls, and the Amazon rainforest. From Rio’s famous beaches and mountain scenery to the thundering waterfalls of Iguazu and the immense tropical wilderness of the Amazon, the itinerary combines Brazil’s cultural highlights with some of South America’s most extraordinary natural landscapes.

Flanked by mountains, white-sand beaches and tropical forest, Rio de Janeiro enjoys one of the most spectacular settings of any major city in the world. Set between jungle-covered mountains and the sea, Rio is known for its relaxed beach culture, samba music, colorful neighborhoods, and the infectious energy of Carnival. The residents of Rio, known as Cariocas, have made outdoor living an essential part of the city’s character, from the world-famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema to neighborhood cafés, lively gathering places, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the city and coastline. While staying at an upscale oceanfront hotel, we’ll experience many of Rio’s highlights, including Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, a colorful samba show, and a sunset cruise on Guanabara Bay. We’ll also enjoy a traditional Brazilian churrasco and spend time in the charming hillside neighborhood of Santa Teresa, with plenty of opportunities to take in the atmosphere along Rio’s famous beaches.

Iguazu Falls is one of South America’s greatest natural spectacles, a vast system of waterfalls stretching for nearly two miles through subtropical rainforest along the border of Brazil and Argentina. Rather than a single waterfall, Iguazu consists of approximately 275 individual cascades, with water plunging from heights of up to 260 feet into the gorge below. Neither words nor photographs quite capture the scale of the falls—the thunder of the water, clouds of mist rising from the gorge, rainbows appearing above the cascades, and dense green forest surrounding it all. We’ll experience Iguazu Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides, each offering a very different perspective: sweeping panoramic views from Brazil and an extensive network of walkways that brings us remarkably close to the cascades in Argentina. Our stay at the only hotel located within the Brazilian Iguazu National Park gives us an additional advantage, allowing us to enjoy this extraordinary setting before and after many of the daytime visitors have left.

Covering an immense portion of South America, the Amazon is the largest tropical rainforest on Earth and one of the most biologically diverse regions on the planet. The vast Amazon River and its thousands of tributaries form an enormous network of waterways winding through rainforest that supports an extraordinary variety of species of mammals, birds, fish, insects and plants. The region is also home to Indigenous peoples and traditional river communities whose lives and cultures have been closely connected to the forest and its waterways for generations. Setting out from Manaus, we’ll travel into the rainforest for a stay at a luxury jungle lodge, our base for discovering the Amazon’s waterways, forests and remarkable ecosystems. From here, we’ll venture into the surrounding rainforest and along its rivers and tributaries, learning about this complex environment while looking for some of the wildlife that makes the Amazon one of the most fascinating natural regions in the world.

  • In Rio de Janeiro, we'll be staying at an upscale oceanfront hotel overlooking Copacabana Beach. With our private guide, we'll explore the city's most celebrated sights, ride the cog train through the Tijuca Forest to Christ the Redeemer, and take the cable cars to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain for sweeping views over Rio and Guanabara Bay. We'll also enjoy a private sunset cruise on Guanabara Bay and an evening of music, dance, and colorful costumes at a lively samba show.
  • In Iguazu Falls, we'll stay surrounded by subtropical rainforest at the only hotel located within the Brazilian Iguazu Falls National Park, giving us exceptional access to one of the world's great natural wonders. We'll experience the Iguazu Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides, exploring the waterfalls and the surrounding rainforest by open-air train, boat, and on foot. We'll also visit the colorful Bird Park, take a walk in search of the rare lunar rainbows that can sometimes appear in the mist of the falls, and embark on the Macuco Safari, traveling by a boat for an exhilarating ride toward the cascades.
  • We will spend 4 days at the extraordinary Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge, surrounded by the Amazon rainforest and the waterways of the Rio Negro. Our days will introduce us to this remarkable environment through a variety of activities, including a boat tour through the Anavilhanas Archipelago, guided rainforest walks, canoeing through narrow creeks and seasonally flooded forest, piranha fishing, archery, watching the sunrise over the Amazon, and nighttime exploration along the Rio Negro. We'll also visit a local riverside community and learn more about the complex ecosystem of the Amazon through talks and guided activities focusing on its remarkable flora and fauna.

What the Media Says About Us

The Future of Women Travel: More Adventure, Less Shopping
"When I told people I was going to the Amazon, their jaws dropped," says Joswick. "I think this is because we tend to think of it as a dangerous, difficult and uncomfortable place: heat, bugs, snakes, wild animals, piranhas, you name it. "But going the way we did, on a comfortable boat, with excellent guides, I never felt I was in danger. The heat was bearable, and I never even saw a mosquito!" In the past most Sights and Soul tour destinations have been in Europe, with a focus on cultural landmarks. For the Amazon tour, Barnes had to switch gears: "We replaced cathedrals, art, gourmet restaurants and spas with the stillness of the Rio Negro, the floating meadows of the Amazon, the monkeys, cayman and sloths. more
